🔥Partial outage

Our monitoring system has identified an issue with IoT device connectivity and telemetry delivery on Oct. 27th between 1:00 AM UTC - 3:30 PM UTC. The system was able to self-recover itself from the unhealthy condition.

IMPACT
Ability™ based devices (ABB Ability™ EL Industrial Gateway and ANC cards) were impacted. It has been observed that a few gateway devices might have taken longer to reconnect, up to six hours.
No further impact is expected.

ROOT CAUSE
The incident is currently under investigation. A preliminary analysis indicates a glitch occurred in a 3rd party service provider component triggered by the switch to wintertime, occurred over the night of October 27th, at 1 AM UTC, in the North Europe datacenter. More details will follow as the analysis continues.

Telemetry analytics - Analytics services

We are experiencing a delay in processing the telemetry data of devices.

Devices might appear as disconnected. No telemetry data is lost.

Updates

The issue has been resolved and all devices' analytics are in realtime since Oct. 8th 1:00 PM UTC.

IMPACT
Devices might be reported as disconnected by the web portal; the backlog of unprocessed messages is currently being processed. No telemetry data is expected to be lost.

ROOT CAUSE
A temporary misbehave in a third party component caused some telemetry to not being processed in realtime. The data processing was recovered, however, to keep data consistency the affected data is being re-processed.


Device provisioning - IoT Services

We would like to inform you that due to a regression we had to withdrawn the ABB Ability™ Provisioning Tool v2.16.0 from the ABB Library.

Such regression is only impacting a subset of use cases (connecting to a factory new gateway), but as a precautionary measure we decided to retire v2.16.0 from the General Availability. Current stable version is then v2.15.1.

As today, if you:

  • Have installed v2.16.0 already, please uninstall it and re-install v2.15.1 from the following link: https://library.abb.com/d/9AKK107991A9195
  • Are still operating version v2.15.1, no action is required
  • Are still operating a version older than v2.15.1, you can safely update it via the update tool, it will download the correct version
A fixed version, v2.16.1, will be released in the upcoming days.
